My name is Melanie, but everyone calls me Mel. I am a woman who likes to eat and it shows. I have a six pack under there somewhere it just happens to be covered by a layer of flab!
I work for a fortune 500 company where I spend most of my time sitting on my ever growing butt. I was diagnosed with diabetes about 2 years ago, gastroparesis and hypertension. At the ripe ol’ age of 29 and much swelling of ankles and aching joints I have come to the conclusion that I need to do something before it is too late!
My whole life I have been told “oh you have such a pretty face or you have beautiful hair,” which translates to a fat girl as “you would look so much better if you would lose weight.”
By the way, thanks to all those people that made me feel like my body wasn’t good enough for my face, it has taught me that looks don’t matter, but when the doctor starts talking about how diabetes takes years off your life if it is not controlled you start to take stock of how you want to spend the rest of your life.
It is not about fitting into a bikini or having a six pack. It is about quality and quantity of life.
So I hope you will follow my journey and maybe we can help one another to find the right healthy balance for us all!
Thank you for taking the time to check out my story!
I also have hypertension, as well as hypothyroidism. I’m beginning to have issues with my joints, and do not want to end up like my Mom–a woman in bad health who is on numerous medications. I want to try to take control of my weight, and alter my eating habits to get control of the medical problems before they control me!
I would love to share my journey of weight loss, as it happens, and would love to hear from other sister heifers who have any tips, funny stories, videos, etc.
BTW…you do have a beautiful face Mel, and a beautiful heart & body to go with it….don’t let the haters get you down & don’t lose weight for anyone but yourself. We can work together & support each other though this journey!
